Report: Informal Science Experiences Shape Students' Knowledge

Field trips, TV shows and other extracurricular activities may vastly improve students' understanding of science, according to a new report by a committee of the National Research Council. "Contrary to the pervasive idea that schools are responsible for addressing the scientific knowledge needs of society, the reality is that schools cannot act alone," the report states.
