Dr. Teresa M. Boyer, Director, Education and Workforce Development Research and Programs

Dr. Teresa Boyer is Director, Education and Workforce Development Research and Programs at the Center for Women and Work at Rutgers University. She holds a Doctorate in Education from The University of Alabama, a Masters in Higher Education Administration from Alabama, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Villanova University, where she also received the Villanova Medallion for Excellence in Education. Her areas of expertise include gender equity in education and career development, including classroom interactions, Title IX, women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, nontraditional careers, sexual harassment, and gendered violence.

Before coming to the Center for Women and Work, Dr. Boyer worked at the Education Development Center, Inc. in Newton, MA as Director of Technical Assistance for the U.S Department of Education’s Women’s Educational Equity Act (WEEA) Resource Center, and Research Associate at its Gender and Diversities Institute. She also served as the Director of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs at the Douglass Project for Rutgers Women in Math, Science and Engineering, an NSF award-winning program at Douglass College. Other positions she has held include Program Coordinator of the Women’s Resource Center, and Career Development Assistant at the University of Alabama.

Suzanne Eng, Program Coordinator Education and Career Development Research Program and the Nontraditional Career Resource Center

Suzanne C. Eng is the program coordinator for the Education and Career Development Research Program and the Nontraditional Career Resource Center at the Center for Women and Work at Rutgers University. Her work at the Center involves the coordination of summits, events, meetings, residential programs, and workshops. She is the vital liaison to educator, parents and students for the NCRC and its summer High School residential program and Middle School TALE program. She also works closely with the Gender Parity Council on Women in Science & Technology and Women in Law initiatives and aids in promotional areas of marketing support particularly for the Nontraditional Career Resource Center and the New Jersey Council on Gender Parity in Labor and Education.

Before coming to the Center for Women and Work, Suzanne worked at the Center for Cognitive Science at Rutgers University, as a Colloquium and Talk Series Planner, she developed guidelines and implemented policy for speakers and committee members. Also as an Executive Director for Middlesex County Habitat for Humanity, she was a vital liaison to the President, the North Eastern Regional manager, Board of Directors and volunteer staff. She also created a Habitat Chapter at Rutgers University. At SpeakEasy M.E.D.I.A., Inc. she was the personal assistant to the President, who is an author and a former CNN correspondent. Her proudest achievement to date has been raising her four children, as a stay-at-home mom for almost twenty years.

Suzanne has an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She is highly motivated, productive, and goal-oriented, with an innate ability to see implications of actions and ideas. One of her major strengths is the capacity to promote team collaboration for optimum results. She is delighted to be part of an innovative and motivated Center that believes in equity for all.

Glenda Gracia-Rivera

Glenda has a proven track record of developing and implementing pioneer programs within diverse, human service provider settings.  Prior to coming to the Center for Women & Work, she was with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, where she served as the Student Development Initiatives Coordinator in the Office of Education.  Glenda has also worked for the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey in Trenton, and FOCUS Hispanic Community Center in Newark, where she was responsible for implementing various human service and youth development programs.   Her areas of expertise include professional development & training, student development & instruction, curriculum development, diversity awareness, community relations, and program management.  She holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and a Master of Public Administration in Non-Profit Management, from Seton Hall University.  She also sits on several advisory boards for local community organizations.

Glenda has been proud to serve as the catalyst for new initiatives in the past, and hopes to continuously bring about original and innovative processes toward the achievement of the CWW’s mission, goals, and objectives.

 There has been a steep decline in women's participation in undergraduate computer science. In 1984, women earned 37 percent of undergraduate computer science degrees. In 1999, women earned less than 20 percent of computer science degrees. (Thom, M. 2001. Balancing the Equation.  National Council for Research on Women.)
